Marriage: Hope Chest Project Concept

Requirements: Construct a box using traditional woodworking techniques. Relate the content to marriage. Work to be displayed at the St. Mary's College 2007 Women's Studies Colloquium.

Ideas:
- A looking box: a closed box with holes on one side and a mirror oposite so that the mirrors reflect objects hidden on the inside of the looking surface.
- A puzzle box with a lid that when opened reveals 6 different box-related functions that mirror marital relationship aspects, colaged interior walls.
- A box that is has sparkly texture on the outside and natural texture inside. OOoooh, crafty.

Intention: To address the difference between physical attraction and a deeper innate attraction - metaphysical compatibility. Also possibly to address the multi-faceted functions and rewards of a successful partnership.

Why: To illustrate the importance of non-physical understanding required in a functional union: consciousness of self, respect of others and self-respect, listening and emotional support, unconditional commitment.
